Weekend Ski Breaks to France

France is one of the top countries to visit if it has anything to do with snow sports. France has over 300 ski resorts which you can choose from and many would consider this country as the best place for skiing. This is not bad for a country where the skiing business started only around the mid-60’s compared with the other countries.

French sportsmen are fast becoming one of the best in skiing competitions. Because of this, we can say that the popularity of the sport was improved. This is evident when about 5 million French citizens choose to go on a skiing vacation here.

If you’re going to France, you can visit either The Alps or the Pyrenees for skiing. There are around 400 resorts that you can choose from in the Alps area alone and this covers about 6% of the entire Alps region. You can find here the Vallée Blanche, which has the largest lift-accessed vertical drop and has the longest run as well. The Chamonix, situated in the Haute-Savoie region, is considered as one of the world’s leading mountaineering centers and this is where Mont Blanc, the legendary and highest mountain in the Alps is also located. The Chamonix is also the ski center with the most number of visitors worldwide. In Pyrenees, meanwhile, you can find several resorts that offer at least 750 meters of vertical drop such as Les Angles, Peyragudes, and Piau Engaly.

Skiing in this country starts by autumn season and ends during the month of May. Resorts in this country also offer a one ski pass policy wherein a ski pass can be used in many resorts, thus allowing a wide array of choices of skiing trails during their stay. There are also various options for your accommodations ranging from traditional and customary to simple apartments and modest resorts to a four or five class hotel. Truly, you can have the best options for your dream ski vacation either alone or with your family.

Spending your vacation in France may hurt your pockets a bit but you are sure to get your money’s worth and this country offers endless possibilities and top-notch quality vacation. They say that even if you spend several seasons in France and ski in a different trail everyday, you would still need about ten more years to discover every trail and territory that France has to offer.
